Vivian Paul Foh is an alumna of the University of Hull, where she completed a Master’s degree in Music in 2023. Her postgraduate research focused on “Music as Therapy,” exploring the role of music in emotional wellbeing, rehabilitation, and social inclusion. This reflects a mature and interdisciplinary understanding of contemporary music practice.

Since graduating, Vivian has continued to demonstrate sustained artistic activity through independent music releases and live performances. Her work integrates African musical heritage, jazz harmony, neo-soul aesthetics, and improvisation, with themes centred on healing, spirituality, identity, and resilience.

Her professional visibility within the UK has continued to grow through performances at recognised arts venues and events. In 2024, she performed at the Freedom Festival and at The Torch event hosted at Hull Truck Theatre. These engagements demonstrate increasing recognition within the professional arts community and her capacity to contribute positively to the UK’s live cultural environment.

Vivian also volunteers weekly with Beats Bus Foundation, an organisation that uses music and the creative arts as a pathway to hope, confidence, skills, and safety. Through its programmes, young people are given access to opportunities within the music and creative industries, alongside mentoring, education, and pastoral support aimed at improving self-esteem, mental wellbeing, and future prospects.

At the heart of her creative practice, Vivian is deeply committed to positively influencing younger generations. She demonstrates this through her weekly voluntary involvement in creative music circles for children and teenagers at Beats Bus. Through this work, she helps young people engage with music in a supportive environment that nurtures creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
